Definitions, terminology and concepts relating to systems safety

Hazard identificattion methodologies e.g. FTA, FMEA, ETA, HAZAN, HAZOP,

Best Practice Risk Management - Corporate Social Responsibility - Strategic & Operational Risk.

Regulation of Risk -Tolerability of Risk - Unacceptable - Tolerable - Acceptable

Good practice and pitfalls in risk assessment.

Operational and organisational characteristics necessary for control.


Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to
  1. Discuss essential elements of the risk management process.

  2. Evaluate risk assessment methodologies.

  3. Evaluate organisational and operational inputs and characteristics relevant to risk control.

  4. Examine the role and benefits of Risk Management in the achievement of business excellence and within the wider socio-economic context.
