Description
This module will focus on core topics that impact on workers health and wellness both positvely and negatively. During this module students will gain a detailed knowledge and understanding of health promotion practice in a workplace setting. The learner will be able to identfy and outline the core skills required to plan, implement and evaluate health promotion initiatives from a theorectical perspective.

Overview of Health Promotion Concepts

Health Risk Behaviours vs Health protective Behaviours

Core Concepts applicable to utilising a settings based approach with focus on the workplace

Models and approaches to Health Promotion Practice in the Workplace

Health Promotion Initiatives from planning through to implementing and evaluating Health Promotion Initiative

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to
  1. Demonstrate detailed knowledge and understanding of the concepts, principles and theories of health promotion within a workplace setting.

  2. Outline, describe and interpret core principles required for effective health promotion practice.

  3. Critically appraise current research regarding topics that impact on workers health both positively and negatively.

  4. Source, select and present relevant health related data to illustrate the core skills in planning, implementing and evaluating health promotion initiatives.
