Description
This course seeks to provide students with a thorough understanding of the debates associated with issues of work motivation, pay equity, performance management ethics; the methods of pay and performance management; the systems of performance pay; and the options and issues facing managers. It encourages students to form a critical understanding of these debates by providing an overview of the alternative approaches by drawing on a wide range of case studies to demonstrate the theories.

On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to
  1. Critically review the purposes and benefits of performance and reward management

  2. Critically assess the contribution of motivation and psychological theory to performance and reward management

  3. Describe & critically evaluate the role of line managers in managing performance.

  4. Demonstrate the ability to design and implement performance management and reward processes to improve organisational performance

  5. Demonstrate the ability to make recommendations to align the processes of performance management and reward with each other and with other related personnel and development activities within the organisation

  6. Demonstrate the ability to conduct performance planning and review processes
