Description
The aim of this module is to address the increasing requirement for OHS professionals to crossover between environmental management and OHS in the workplace.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to
  1. Describe and discuss the Environmental Impact Assessment and Environmental Risk Management processes.

  2. Evaluate pollution abatement technologies.

  3. Identify and interpret environmental policy and legislation and its impact on the workplace.

  4. Assess environmental management systems and their relationship to OHS and quality systems.

  5. Assess the synergy between environmental and OHS management and control and the various stakeholders involved.


Assessment Strategies
Final Theory 50%; Continuous assessment 50%

The students will be exposed to a blend of learning activities e.g. on-line lectures (via AdobeConnect), independent learning and directed learning. This approach is expected to address various student learning needs. Moodle will be used to upload educational material( e.g. powerpoint presentations. recordings of on-line lectures and supplementary reading material) and as a means of assessment (e.g. quizzes, uploading assignments and journals).
