Description
The module will build on the application of design communication and develop visual (drawing, modelling and computer-aided), verbal and written communication methods and evaluate appropriate application. Develop lighting and material skills in CAD programmes and image editing software.

Indicative Syllabus
Cross-referencing of design information and integrating presentation packages. Presentation and process models

Presentation techniques and media

Lighting systems and global illumination within CAD programmes.

Image editing software.

Texture maps.

Rendering a shadow study

Simple animation techniques

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module the learner will/should be able to
  1. Debate design ideas within visual, verbal and written presentations, utilising appropriate language, terminology and representational graphics

  2. Create complex presentation design drawings

  3. Integrate the context, use and cross-referencing of design information in a set of complex design drawings

  4. Construct and utilise scale models, using appropriate materials, as a design development tool from concept to presentation stage aligned with studio design projects

  5. Create and modify materials and maps to effectively convey design ideas within a computer graphics programme

  6. Create and modify lights and lighting systems to effectively convey light and shadow solutions within a CAD programme

  7. Generate photorealistic design images from CAD models and enhance them within an image editing programme

  8. Produce realistic animations and walkthroughs within a CAD programme
